Thanks to EuroSea collaboration framework between Marine Institute, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), AVRAMAR, Mowi Ireland (formerly Marine Harvest) and Xylem / Aanderaa Data Instruments, two ,MOTUS wave buoys have been deployed to support the activities in fish farms facilities at Deenish Island (west coast of Ireland) and El Campello (Alicante).
The instruments integrated in the buoys monitor several oceanographical (sea water temperature, currents), wave (significant wave hight), meteorological (wind, air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity) and biogeochemical (oxygen, conductivity, turbidity) parameters, both in surface layer and profiles to the bottom, feeding a near-real-time dataflow to the local fish farms and also to relevant stakeholders and data aggregators like Copernicus Marine Service In Situ TAC component (distributing historical data since June 2022 through INSITU MultiYear – NRT products).
