The Copernicus Marine In Situ TAC 2 – Phase II General Assembly took place in Rhodes, Greece, on 22–24 September 2026, hosted by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR).
This three-day meeting brought together the In Situ TAC partners to review the progress of the service and prepare its next developments and releases. Discussions covered both the evolution of existing products and new data and service capabilities, with presentations addressing topics including wave and biogeochemical/carbon products, high-frequency radar observations, sea-ice and UV drifter data, as well as the integration of data from EMSO and GLOSS.
The meeting also addressed a broad range of developments across the In Situ TAC service, including new and evolving data products, the Marine In Situ dashboard, product validation, quality control, and the evolution of data delivery for different observing systems. It also highlighted the growing collaboration between Copernicus Marine, EMODnet, EDITO, and EMSO, with particular attention to strengthening the data flow between EMSO and the In Situ TAC and the future integration of EMSO datasets into the In Situ TAC system.
The meeting was hosted at the HCMR Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes, where participants also had the opportunity to visit the aquarium and learn more about the history of the station and its contribution to marine research.
